The most common reasons cars fail

1. A light is out. Headlights, brake lights, turn signals, and the license plate light all count.
2. Worn tires. Low tread or damage on the sidewall.
3. Bad wipers. Streaky or torn blades.
4. A cracked windshield in the driver’s line of sight.
5. A seat belt that won’t latch, front or back.

Your quick checklist

• Walk around the car with the lights and blinkers on.
• Have someone watch while you press the brake.
• Check your tire pressure and look at the tread.
• Test the horn, mirrors, and every seat belt.
• Give the inside a quick clean.
