How to Prepare for Your Appointment

Make Sure Your Truck Is Registered With CARB

All diesel trucks subject to Clean Truck Check must be registered in CARB’s database before testing. If you haven’t already done this:

Visit the official CARB portal

Create an account or log in

Add your vehicle(s) to your company’s account

Pay the $30 per-vehicle annual compliance fee directly to CARB

This registration must be completed before your test results can be submitted

Vehicle Readiness

To help ensure testing goes smoothly:

Your vehicle must be in safe, testable condition

If your vehicle recently had a battery change or repair, make sure it has been driven enough to set the emissions monitors to “ready”

Incomplete readiness may require rescheduling or retesting and could result in a failed inspection

If you’re unsure, feel free to ask us for guidance before your appointment

Please Arrive On Time For Your Appointment

If you’re more than 15 minutes late, you may lose your appointment slot and deposit

For mobile testing, please make sure someone is available to meet our tester and provide access to the vehicle at your appointment time
If we aren’t able to access the vehicle within 15 minutes, your appointment and deposit may be forfeited

No worries — just give us a quick heads-up and we’ll do our best to work with you

Weather Considerations

(Smoke Opacity Tests Only)

If your appointment includes a smoke opacity test, please be aware that testing cannot be performed in rain, strong wind, or poor outdoor conditions

If weather impacts your appointment, we’ll reach out to reschedule

You will not lose your deposit due to weather-related delays

If You’ve Received A Non-Compliance Notice

If you’ve received a DMV registration hold or non-compliance letter from CARB:

Register your vehicle in CARB’s system if you haven’t already

Complete and pass a compliance test

We will submit the results directly to CARB on your behalf

Once your results are submitted, it typically takes 1–3 business days for your compliance status to update in the DMV system

You may still need to visit a DMV field office in person to complete your registration, especially if your vehicle had an active hold

Bring your Certificate of Compliance (available in your CARB Clean Truck Check portal) to assist with clearing the hold

If You Complete Testing Before Receiving A Notice

If your vehicle passes compliance testing before any non-compliance letter or DMV registration hold is issued:

Your results will be submitted automatically to CARB

Your vehicle will be marked compliant once your registration and payment are complete

Your compliance status will be transmitted to the DMV within 1–3 business days

In this case, no further action is required, and you do not need to visit the DMV in person unless instructed otherwise

This is the smoothest path — and our goal is to keep you ahead of any compliance issues

What To Expect After Testing

Once your CARB test is completed, we will submit your results to CARB’s Clean Truck Check system
It typically takes up to 2 business days for your results to appear in the CTC-VIS portal and reflect your updated compliance status

What Happens To My Deposit After Booking

The $50 deposit you paid will be applied toward the total cost of your service

If you do not show up for your appointment or cancel with less than 24 business hours notice, the deposit may be forfeited
