At Darling Smog, we’re dedicated to providing efficient CARB Clean Truck emissions testing services to keep California’s roads and air clean here at our location in Glendora (we also provide mobile testing). As part of our commitment to clean air, we’re excited to announce that CARB Clean Truck smoke opacity testing will soon be available at our shop!
What is Smoke Opacity Testing?
Smoke opacity testing measures the density of smoke emitted by diesel vehicles to ensure they comply with California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations. This test is critical for maintaining compliance with the state’s Clean Truck Program and helps reduce harmful emissions from diesel-powered vehicles.
Who Needs Smoke Opacity Testing?
If you own or operate:
Diesel non-OBD vehicles (2012 and older diesel engines) are required to complete a smoke opacity test and a visual inspection of the vehicle’s emissions control equipment, referred to in this program as the Vehicle Emissions Control Equipment Inspection.
These are the Non-OBD smoke opacity standards.
Alternative fuel non-OBD vehicles (2017 and older alternative fuel engines) are only required to complete the visual inspection and are not subject to the smoke opacity test requirement.
